What is Affiliate marketing
First, what is affiliate marketing and can it be done without a website?
The best definition I could find for affiliate marketing is: It is the method of making commission through the process of promoting other people’s or company’s products and receive a commission for the sale.
An example is an estate agent. He sells a house which does not belong to him and after the sale, he receives a commission for that sale.
It is exactly the same for affiliate marketing. You find an affiliate program such as Clickbank for example, choose a niche and then see what products is for sale in that niche. Request a hop link, also known as an affiliate link. You insert this link in your promotion and ads. When somebody buys the product from you by clicking on that link, you receive a commission.
And yes, it can be done without a website. It is discussed below

Ways to promote your product
There are many ways that you can promote the product. There are free ways to do it which is called organic traffic, or paid ways to do it which is called paid traffic. For the beginner on a low budget, organic traffic is the way to go. When you know what you are doing, then do paid traffic.
Step Nr.1
The first step is to have a website. With a website you need to register a name for your site and after you registered a name, you need to get a company to host your site on the internet. This is costing you money and the promotion to an offer, or drive traffic (clients) to website is quite tricky. You need to learn search engine optimization, also known as SEO. This is a trade on its own! It is also known as organic traffic and not paid traffic which you pay for to get visitors to your website.
Step Nr. 2
Secondly, many marketers are doing content creation and post it on either their own blog, or they do guest blogging. That is, they post their content on other people’s blogs and they insert their affiliate link into their content. It is not all the blog owners that will allow this so, you need to make sure that it is allowed.

Thirdly. Many like to do what they call social media marketing. Again, there are ways to do it without cost and paid ways to do it. Paid ways are to place an add on social media and let it run to find customers. A slower way, but cheap, is to place articles of value to your customers and attract them that way to your offer. It is thus very important to know who your clients are going to be and where they hang out.

Fourthly. Quora. This is a question-and-answer website. You answer people’s questions on this site and give them information. Every now and then, you insert your link into your answer to drive clients to your offer. Just be careful. People do not like affiliate links and you have to “cloak” your link so that it does not look like an affiliate link. The same goes for social media marketing!

Fifthly. YouTube marketing is another unexploited way of putting your offer in front of would-be customers. You make videos and post it on YouTube, optimize it.
